Heat exchangers come in many different varieties such as shell and tube, plate, plate fin, adiabatic and many more. However, all of these are designed to remove heat from any electronic component by means of conduction, radiation or convection. By breaking up the heat or allowing for an efficient transfer of heat from one fluid to the other, a heat exchanger is like that of a radiator in a car. Whenever an engine becomes too hot, a fluid product such as antifreeze is made to transfer the heat to air which flows through the radiator. This is what heat exchangers are designed to do, but most tend to be used in industrial work, refineries, plants and most commonly, air conditioning.
